1. Purpose of data processing
The Postdocs Fund is intended to enable postdocs to realize their own ideas in research and teaching. To this end, postdocs can apply for funds of up to 5,000 euros per year, which they can dispose of freely and independently of their supervisors.

The data collected during the application process is used to process the applications. Applications cannot be processed without this data.

We will anonymize your personal data as soon as and insofar as this is possible in accordance with the purpose pursued in each case. The transfer of data to third parties (e.g. reporting obligations to the responsible vice president/president's office) will also only take place in anonymized form.

2. Legal basis for data processing
The legal basis for the processing of your personal data is Article 6 paragraph 1 (e) in conjunction with paragraph 3 GDPR in conjunction with Article 12 paragraph 1 (1) in conjunction with Article 2 Act on Higher Education of the Land of Baden-Württemberg (LHG) in conjunction with Articles 70, 75 Landeshaushaltsordnung für Baden-Württemberg (LHO). 

3. Type of data
The following data will be processed for the application, the selection decision and the processing of the grant:

• name (first name & surname),
• school or institution,
• department,
• university e-mail address,
• amount of the requested funds,
• purpose of the requested fund.

4. Recipients of the data
If there are any doubts regarding the eligibility of your project or your eligibility to apply, the decision on the application lies with the Vice president for Research and Academic Career Paths. The following data will be sent to them for this purpose:

• name (first name & surname),
• school or institution,
• department,
• university e-mail address,
• amount of the requested funds,
• purpose of the requested fund.

In accordance with archiving regulations, we must offer documents to the University Archives before they are deleted. The archive then decides whether to accept the documents.

5. Storage period
Division I and the responsible Vice President delete the data no later than five years after the funding decision.

If necessary, the documents will be taken over by the responsible university archive and generally stored there indefinitely.

You have the right to

• request information about your personal data processed by us in accordance with Article 15 GDPR,
• demand the immediate correction of incorrect or incomplete personal data stored by us in accordance with Article 16 GDPR,
• request the erasure of your personal data stored by us in accordance with Article 17 GDPR,
• request the restriction of the processing of your personal data in accordance with Article 18 GDPR; to exercise your rights as a data subject, please contact: postdocsmail-uni-mannheim.de,
• lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in accordance with Article 77 GDPR. The supervisory authority in Baden-Württemberg is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg (Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg).

2. Right to object
If your personal data is processed on the basis of Article 6 paragraph 1 (e) GDPR (data processing in the public interest), you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data in accordance with Article 21 GDPR, provided that there are reasons for this arising from your particular situation.
