The University Library Has a New, Creative, and Collaborative Space for Learning and Working

ExpLAB, Mannheim University Library’s new creative learning space in the Schloss Schneckenhof Library, is now open, right in time for the new semester.

ExpLAB has been designed to offer students and guests an inspiring atmosphere for individual work and group work. The room is equipped with flexible furniture and design thinking materials such as presentation cards, stopwatches and creative materials. In addition, ExpLAB visitors can learn more about and test the latest technology: Besides a high-performance eye-tracker, the room is also equipped with virtual reality glasses.

With its multimodal conference systems, the newly designed ExpLAB also meets the current requirements of hybrid teaching. Shortly, the first events such as the information days of the ENGAGE.EU university alliance will be hosted there.

The ExpLAB was funded by the project “BW-BiG-DIWA: Bibliotheken gestalten den digitalen Wandel” (Libraries are shaping digital change) of the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts of Baden-Württemberg as well as by the gracious support of the alumni organization ABSOLVENTUM Mannheim.
