Abstract:
Philosophy has long been concerned with various doxastic and epistemic states, such as belief and knowledge, and numerous philosophers have examined what it is for a subject to believe or know something.
Surprisingly, however, little work has focused on analyzing doubt, even though doubting is no less philosophically significant than believing or knowing. This talk does two things: it provides a novel account of doubt and investigates how doubt relates to certainty and knowledge.
