International Women’s Day

Every year since 1911, International Women’s Day has been celebrated worldwide, in Berlin it has been an official holiday since 2019, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will also introduce it from 2023. On this day attention is drawn to women’s rights and gender equality: oppression and injustice of women in other countries are to be reminded on this day, but even in Germany it is still not possible to speak of complete equality: the Matilda Effect, Gender Pay Gap and misogyny accompany (trans*) women in their daily lives.
On this Women’sDay, we express our solidarity, our admiration for the courage and our compassion for all women in times of war.
More information about this year’s World Women’s Day can be found on social media under the hashtags #IWD2022 and #InternationalWomensDay of the United Nations and UN Women.
