Dual Reporting Approach
The University of Mannheim sources 100% green electricity. This means that certificates were purchased for the green electricity procured. The production of green electricity generates no direct emissions. Using the market-based approach, these certificates are accounted for, resulting in zero emissions for electricity consumption.
Alternatively, the location-based method can be used. This approach calculates the actual physical electricity consumed. For this calculation, the emission factors of the German electricity mix were used.
