Exhibition Trash People |

From 28 September to 15 October, the university is hosting an anniversary exhibition by performance artist HA Schult, entitled “Trash People – 30 Years Around the World”, in the east wing of the Schloss. An accompanying program, featuring the artist himself, rounds off the exhibition.

The exhibition encourages us to reflect on our use of resources, our consumption habits and the environment. Since 1996, HA Schult has been sending his ‘Trash People’ on a journey around the world. The life-size figures are made from crushed tins, electronic waste, packaging and other discarded materials. From the remnants of our consumer society, human-like figures emerge – a mirror of our own present. The famous and well-travelled sculptures are on display in the east wing of the Schloss, including in the Rector’s Office and the service courtyard. Accompanying the sculptures, a photography exhibition is on display in the Rector’s Office corridor, showcasing many of the major stops on the Trash People’s journey over the last 30 years. There is also a programme of accompanying events, to which interested visitors are warmly invited.
