kollektion23–25, (alb-)traumhaft: Exhibition by Jake Sandquist in the Schneckenhof Forum

The University of Mannheim is currently presenting an exhibition by artist Jake Sandquist in the Schneckenhof forum. It is the Mannheim-based artist’s first solo exhibition and invites visitors to immerse themselves in a world between nightmares, dreams, and reality.

Sandquist’s works are the result of an inner dialog with life and his own feelings. “My art is created spontaneously and automatically, resulting in an unpredictable reflection of my inner state at the time of creation,” the artist describes his creative process. This intuitive approach combines abstraction, surreality, and emotionality.

Having grown up in California, Sweden, and Germany, Sandquist sees himself as a cultural chameleon translating impressions, history, and emotions into color. He has been influenced by artists such as Neckface and Roy Lichtenstein, but he primarily finds inspiration in his immediate surroundings. His works are snapshots of an inner journey—between lightness and melancholy as well as playfulness and depth.

The exhibition “kollektion23–25, (alb-)traumhaft” can be seen in the Schneckenhof forum of the Schloss Mannheim (Schloss Ost, ground floor) during the opening hours of the University of Mannheim until 28 February 2026. Everyone interested is welcome to discover Sandquist’s visual worlds.
