The University of Mannheim invites women and other FLINTA* individuals to apply for the one-year acadeMIA program. The program is open to doctoral candidates from all disciplines at the university. Supported by the Department of Equal Opportunity and Diversity as part of the Professorinnenprogramm 2030, the program equips participants with the academic and self-development skills essential for successfully completing their doctorate and preparing for careers beyond it. Through well-structured, interactive workshops, acadeMIA aims to strengthen participants’ academic profiles, enhance key competencies, expand professional networks, and support career planning towards professorships and other leadership roles in academia.

Running from May 2026 to May 2027, the program is divided into four phases covering topics such as well-being, conflict management, career planning, academic publishing, and grant writing. The program is conducted in English and is designed to combine targeted skill development with meaningful networking opportunities.

Applicants must be preferably at an early stage of their doctoral research and motivated to invest in their personal, professional, and academic growth. Participants are expected to attend all modules and actively engage in networking activities, including tandem partnerships that foster peer exchange and mutual support. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds, including those with caregiving responsibilities, disabilities, and first-generation academics.

Applications are open through 10 April 2026. For more information, please visit the Department of Equal Opportunity and Diversity website.

*FLINTA* is a German acronym that stands for women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender individuals.
