Program overview
The bachelor’s program in Business Informatics teaches students the basic principles of Business Informatics, Business Administration, Computer Science, and Mathematics. The focus of the degree program is on acquiring competencies in Computer Science. You will deepen your theoretical knowledge through practical exercise courses, seminars, and programming labs.
You then choose to specialize in one of these disciplines in the fifth and sixth semesters. The interdisciplinary structure of the bachelor’s program in Business Informatics, its practical orientation, and the inclusion of soft skills seminars mean that graduates of the program are sought after on the national and international labor markets.

Spending a semester abroad s optional in the bachelor's program in Business Informatics. However, we strongly recommend spending one or two semesters abroad at one of the more than 450 international partner universities of the University of Mannheim during your program. In collaboration with the International Office, the school will be happy to assist you in planning a period of study abroad.Internships

Important information on the awarding of study places
- For your application to be successful, you must apply in due time and form and fulfill the admission requirements for your chosen program of study.
- If a program of study is selective, the selection criteria set out in the relevant selection statutes apply in addition to the admission requirements. The University of Mannheim does not apply a numerus clausus system (grade-point average for admission to certain programs of study).
- All of our bachelor's programs require German language skills. If you do not have a German university entrance qualification (Abitur or equivalent qualification), you must submit proof of proficiency in German at C1 level.
This program of study is currently not selective. However, you need to pass an admissions procedure. For this purpose, we assess your submitted documents according to defined selection criteria and evaluate whether you achieve the required minimum score of 50 points. You do not need to take an on-site admissions test.

- For Business Administration 1–5, you choose from the following modules: Marketing, Produktion, Internes Rechnungswesen, Grundlagen des externen Rechnungswesens, Finanzwirtschaft, Management.
- In the 2nd and 6th semester, you select one of the following Soft Skills courses (3 ECTS credits each) offered by the Center for Development of Key Competencies (ZfS): Medienkompetenz und Medienpraxis, Kommunikative und persönliche Kompetenzen, Digitale Kompetenzen, Gesellschaft und Nachhaltigkeit or a foreign language course.
- You choose 12 ECTS credits from modules such as Kryptographie I, Theoretische Informatik, Selected Topics in IT-Security, Integrated Information Systems, Foundations of Artificial Intelligence: Search and Problem Solving, Image Processing, or the International Course.
- For the elective subject, you choose one module (6–8 ECTS credits) from Grundlagen der VWL, Recht, Lineare Optimierung, International Accounting, the International Course or the Business Administration 6 module.
