  • Program overview

Business Administration and Economics and Mathematics are a perfect combination in our digitalized world. Mathematics is present everywhere in our everyday lives—often invisible, yet an essential component of economic processes in particular. Whether in the form of artificial intelligence operating behind smartphones, weather forecasts in apps or on television, targeted advertising on social media platforms, or the delivery routes that bring online orders to your doorstep: without modern mathematical tools and methods, none of this would be possible.

The bachelor’s program in Mathematics in Business and Economics has an interdisciplinary orientation. During the first two years of study, you will learn the fundamentals of Mathematics, Business Administration, and Economics. In your third year, you can choose a specialization according to your individual interests. This means that you will not only acquire mathematical foundations and techniques, but also develop the ability to analyze and assess economic relationships in all their complexity and from different perspectives. The program focuses in particular on application-oriented fields such as stochastics, optimization, and financial mathematics.

Fabian Herdtle is sitting on a staircase, laughing. He has short hair, is wearing a beige sweater, and large glasses.

Besides outstanding tuition, the University of Mannheim has a lot more to offer. The opportunities for personal development, expanding your own interests and making new friends are almost endless – for example, you can take advantage of the university sports program, take part in the uni league, become involved in a student organization or acquire experience as a student assistant at a chair. I also really like the city of Mannheim because it's neither too big nor too small. Studying at the University of Mannheim means more than just completing a degree – it's actually a vibe.

Kim Lindner is smiling warmly. She is standing in front of the Schloss and has light blonde hair.

The University of Mannheim not only has an excellent reputation, but also the beautiful Schloss, which I immediately fell in love with. Students of the bachelor’s program in Mathematics in Business and Economics explore a variety of topics. Being confronted with new problems each day and discovering different facets of mathematics every time is particularly intriguing to me. The program combines lectures with exercises courses and tutorials, which creates a pleasant learning atmosphere and helps you internalize and apply what you have learned. Mannheim also offers many opportunities to spend your free time. No matter if you prefer to stroll along the Planken pedestrian zone, go to a Schneckenhof party, or dance the night away at a club in the city center.

Niklas Sabel has short brown hair. He is wearing a white shirt and standing in front of the Schloss.

The reason why I like Mathematics in Business and Economics so much is that you need both a general mathematical understanding and the ability to think like a businessperson. With these skills, excellent career prospects are guaranteed. The University of Mannheim also provides you with the opportunity to pursue your interests outside of the classroom by joining one of the many student organizations.
