QS World University Rankings 2026: The University of Mannheim Enjoys an Excellent Reputation Among Employers

The University of Mannheim has moved up 71 places in the recently published edition of the QS World University Rankings. It is now in 416th position worldwide. It has also climbed six places among German universities, from position 28 to 22.

In the latest World University Rankings published by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the University of Mannheim is ranked 22nd nationally. Internationally, it ranks 416th out of over 1,500 universities, improving its position by 71 places compared to 2025.

The University of Mannheim achieved a particularly good result for the “Employer Reputation” indicator: In a global comparison, it ranks 120th, placing it among the top 8 percent of the universities ranked. In a Germany-wide comparison, this even means 6th place. “Employers recognize the high-quality education we offer our students. In addition to the improvement in the overall ranking, I am particularly pleased about this,” says Professor Dr. Thomas Fetzer, President of the University of Mannheim.

In the QS World University Rankings, higher education institutions are evaluated based on ten indicators. In addition to the “employer reputation”, the academic reputation and the average number of citations of researchers are evaluated in the area of research, for example. Aspects of internationality, such as the proportion of international researchers and students and the international academic network, are also analyzed.

The QS World University Ranking, which has been published since 2004, is considered one of the three leading international university rankings. For the current ranking, the company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has analyzed over 8,460 universities worldwide. Around 1,500 of them were included in the ranking.
