Internship at the University of Mannheim

Are you thinking about which profession might be the right one for you? Just have a try! We offer exciting internships that allow you to make yourself familiar with relevant work processes and get directly involved in your first hands-on assignments. Whether it is a school internship or an internship as part of a vocational retraining program – we welcome all those who are interested in applying!

We offer the following internships:

  • BORS or BOGY internship at the University IT or University Library

    Pupils in the 9th grade or older who are at least 14 years old can complete a one-week BORS/BOGY internship (Berufs- und Studienorientierung an Realschulen/Gymnasien) at the University of Mannheim either at the University IT (UNIT) or at the University Library (UB). During the internship, participants will gain an insight into the possible career options in the respective fields of work.

    • The internship usually lasts one to two weeks.
    • Pupils are covered by accident insurance through their schools during the career orientation internships.
    • No remuneration can be granted.
    • Please apply approximately six weeks prior to the start of the internship and include a brief letter of motivation, your CV, and your most recent school transcript with your application.
  • Mandatory internship as part of the vocational training to become a specialist in media and information services (FaMI)

    You are currently completing your FaMI training and would like to get to know how it is to work in an academic library? During an internship of one or two weeks, you can take a closer look at the different fields of work and activities of the Mannheim University Library. Managing the loans procedure at the circulation desk or interlibrary loans, acquisition and cataloging, digitization, and more – look forward to gaining an interesting insight into our daily work!

  • Mandatory internship as part of a degree program in library and information science

    Would you like to do an internship of several weeks or an internship semester at an innovative university library as part of your degree program in information science? Research data, digitization with OCR, learning space design, public relations – what are you interested in? We offer you an overview of the most important departments and fields of work at the University Library (UB), afterwards you can dive deeper into work areas, assist us or carry out your own project.

  • Internship as part of a vocational retraining program in office management

    You are currently undergoing vocational retraining to become an office management specialist and would like to gain an insight into the corresponding fields of activity (administration/secretarial work, and financial accounting) at a university? At the University of Mannheim, you can complete your mandatory internship lasting six to twelve months (full or part time) and get to know the corresponding areas of work and fields of activity in more detail. You can look forward to an interesting insight into our everyday work!

  • Internship for applicants from abroad as part of the Erasmus+ exchange program

    You come from abroad and would like to do an internship at the University of Mannheim as part of the exchange program Erasmus+? Internships at the University of Mannheim are only possible by prior arrangement. Please begin with contacting the person in whose department respectively school you would like to do the internship. Please also note the deadlines and additional information that you can find on this website.
