Tram Connection to the University Reopened

Good news for everyone commuting to the university by tram: Starting 16 September, trams on the routes between Paradeplatz and Schloss, as well as between Hauptbahnhof and Schloss, will largely resume normal service without detours and delays.

Since 8 July, Rhein-Neckar-Verkehr GmbH (rnv) has been upgrading the core of Mannheim’s public transport system: The switch and track system is being renewed, and at the same time, the barrier-free expansion of the platforms A and B (near Sparkasse) is progressing. The next phase of construction will begin on 16 September, when the previously closed section between Paradeplatz, Schloss, and Hauptbahnhof will be reopened.

The lines 1, 5/5A, 6, 9 EX, and 15, as well as line 4/4A to and from Ludwigshafen, will partly return to their regular routes. However, platforms A and B at Paradeplatz will remain closed and out of service. During this period, Paradeplatz can be reached via lines 2, 3, 6A, and 7, as well as line 4/4A towards Waldfriedhof/Käfertaler Wald, at platforms C and D (near Kaufhof).
