Hydrogen from the Region, for the Region

On October 24, 2024, a significant expert conference on the hydrogen economy took place in Mannheim, focusing on the insights gained from the H2Rivers and H2Rhein-Neckar funding projects. These projects, supported with a total funding volume of €97 million, have successfully established a local hydrogen value chain in the Rhine-Neckar region, positioning it as one of the largest showcases for hydrogen technology.

Experts from politics, business, and academia, including MISES researcher Katrin Gschwind, provided valuable insights and impulses to pave the way for the next steps. The event fostered an inspiring exchange, underscoring the critical importance of collaboration among stakeholders for the success of the hydrogen economy.

In addition to reflecting on the successes and lessons learned from these projects, the conference focused on the future of the hydrogen economy at both national and European levels. What challenges need to be addressed? What decisions must be made now to ensure sustainable value creation in the long term?
