Hi, I am Johannes and I have been enrolled in the Master in Management program at the University of Mannheim since the fall/winter semester 2024. I am very happy to have chosen the MMM program. University life in Mannheim is unique and the MMM program offers students many opportunities. I am happy to help you with questions or uncertainties about the MMM program or university life or to support you in other aspects.

Why I chose this program

After my bachelor's degree in business administration and a gap year full of internships, I knew that I wanted to do a master's program. However, I had not yet found a general specialization for myself. Because the MMM program offers a very wide range of different courses and you can choose these courses independently of each other, choosing the MMM program was very easy. At the same time, the quality of the courses is very high. So if you have already found a specialization for yourself, you can delve very deeply into your own field.

Many students also take the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at one of the numerous exchange universities or to complete a double degree program. The MMM even offers the opportunity to take elective subjects in subjects such as Psychology or Political Science. This means that the master’s program really becomes your master’s program. Finally, I can only emphasize the unique spirit and network at the University of Mannheim – “once a Mannheim student, always a Mannheim student”.

Studying at the University of Mannheim

  • What’s special about the program?

Some lectures in the bachelor’s program are held in English and the master’s program is taught entirely in English, which gives the program a very international focus. You also take a foreign language in the second and third semester of your bachelor’s program. The selection is quite large – from English, Spanish and French to Japanese and Chinese. In the master's program, you can then immerse yourself in completely different fields of study and take an elective subject (for example in psychology or political science). Compared to the bachelor’s program in business administration, which mainly teaches students the wide range of business administration in large lectures with 400 students, the MMM courses are generally smaller and more interactive and include group work and case studies to provide students with the opportunity to show their own skills besides written exams and develop important soft skills.

It is also possible to complete a double degree program with internationally renowned partner universities and obtain two master's degrees in the same period of study. All students of the bachelor’s program in business administration spend the fifth semester at a university abroad. The Business School supports us with its numerous partner universities around the world, where we can study without tuition fees: Italy, China or the USA – the possibilities really are endless! The University of Mannheim also stands out due to its excellent reputation.

  • Extracurricular activities

But Mannheim also has a lot to offer besides the academic aspects : In numerous student organizations, we have the opportunity to volunteer for exciting projects, gain initial practical experience or establish contacts with a wide range of companies. Musicians can join the university choir or the university orchestra. The Institute of Sports gives us the opportunity to try or continue various sports, such as rowing, lacrosse, and Pilates. In addition, there are regular workshops, organized by student organizations or chairs, with companies on a wide variety of topics. The departmental student committee for Business Administration also offers an introductory week at the beginning of the first semester and many social events during the semester to have fun and get to know your fellow students better. There is always something going on.

After graduation

  • Career opportunities

Due to the multifaceted nature of business administration and the contacts with the various companies that you make during your studies, the possible professional fields are also extremely diverse.

What you need to know

  • Frequently Asked Questions

Help! Maths? The amount of math in business studies is not something you should worry too much about. Even if you only took basic math courses or it has been a while since you last studied math, you will be able to cope well with your studies with a little effort. But even if it is not the main component of the program, much of it is based on math. If you can't cope with it or don't enjoy it, you may find that you enjoy your studies less.

  • Language proficiency

A certain language level is required. Please, check the selection statutes – I recommend that you provide proof of sufficient English language skills with your application. This is a prerequisite for the Mannheim Master in Management program. However, if you have taken English up to your Abitur level (or had a significant amount of English in your bachelor's program), or if you can provide proof of a corresponding language certificate, then everything is feasible!
