Events
Many new impressions, a new university, and entirely new surroundings – to help you arrive and settle in, we organize various reception and orientation events. The International Office as well as the schools and departments of the University of Mannheim are looking forward to welcoming you to these programs.
During Welcome Week, both the International Office and the schools will hold orientation events in English. You will receive tips for your stay in Mannheim as well as assistance in arranging your course schedule. In addition to receiving important information on your studies, you will also have the opportunity to meet fellow students.

Introduction to the Mannheim studying system for the spring semester 2026 and orientation event of the Studierendenwerk

Meeting point: SO 108This event has been especially geared towards exchange students. You will be given tips and important information about the University of Mannheim, studying, choosing courses, and your contact persons. You will also receive important information on visa and residence permits as well as on the services and advice offered by the Studierendenwerk. Among others, the following questions will be answered:
- Who do I contact if something needs to be repaired?
- Who can help me if I have trouble with my Internet connection?
Welcome Reception for international students
Friday, 6 February 2026, 4 p.m.
Meeting point: SO 108You are cordially invited to attend our reception event. All international students will be officially greeted by a member of the President’s Office and the head of the International Office.
International student organizations, the Institute of Sports, and the Studierendenwerk's counseling services will be presenting their programs and services.
Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to meet other international students.

At the special orientation events organized by the departments, the departmental exchange coordinators will be available to answer any questions you may have about courses and lectures. They will also help you arrange your course schedule.
