Career

During my studies of Sociology I worked as a student assistant in a research project and in a university department. In 2012, I earned a master's degree and until 2019, I occupied various positions in the administration of a school at the University of Mannheim. Despite the fact that I was given a permanent contract in 2016, I decided to quit my job in 2019. I was offered my current position of Change Management Adviser. To me it was such an interesting career opportunity that I was willing to accept being on a fixed-term contract again.

Tips for starting your career

Generally, do what you want to do and what you enjoy. Only then are you good at what you do. If you do your job well, you will also convince others. It is also important to acquire competences that go beyond professional skills, for example, through voluntary work or secondary employment.

Relevance of the studied program

Probably, I would not have got my first job if I had not gained knowledge of the university structures through my studies at the University of Mannheim.
