This page provides you with important information on exam registration, late registration, withdrawal and de-registration, as well as resitting exams.
Exam registration
You need to register for all exams. This also includes courses in which your assessment is based on term papers, presentations, or similar. It is your own responsibility to register for your exam by the end of the general registration periods via the student portal.
You often have the option to take your exam either on the regular or the alternate examination date. However, we strongly advise you to register for the regular examination date so that you can retake the exam on the alternate examination date in the event that you should fail. Should you decide to register directly for the alternate examination date, you will only have one attempt to pass the exam. For examinations that are not written exams, you can only register for the regular examination date.
Late registration
Late registration is only possible three days prior to the respective regular examination date. You can do this free of charge via the student portal. This deadline also applies to late registrations for the alternate examination date (provided this is an option for the exam in question). For exams that do not conclude with an exam, the deadline ends on 2 December 2023.
After the withdrawal period, it is no longer possible to withdraw from an exam. It is then only possible to be de-registered from an exam if you have a valid reason such as illness (further information on de-registration from exams).
Resitting an exam
If you fail an exam on your first attempt or are unable to take an exam you are registered for due to a valid reason, you may retake the exam on the alternate examination date, provided an alternate date is offered. To register, please contact your Student Services advisor as soon as possible after you have received your grade.
