bwUni.digital: E-Payment As a Digital Payment Platform for Universities

On 29 February 2024, Think Tank 10 on the topic of e-payment began its work. The aim of the think tank is to develop an implementation guide to support universities with the introduction of e-payment.

The introduction of e-payment is intended to offer students, employees and external users of university offers and services a simple, electronic payment procedure. On the one hand, this takes account of the increasing importance and spread of electronic payment methods in society. At the same time, an online payment method enables end-to-end digital processes that increase the ease of use for users and lead to a significant reduction in time-consuming asynchronous payment processes, thereby reducing the workload at universities.

The think tank will deal with several topics:

  • Overview of the numerous stakeholders within the universities with the sometimes very different specialist procedures and scenarios in which the use of online payment methods should come into play.
  • Description of the legal framework within which the introduction of new payment methods must take place, including the individual steps of the introduction.
  • Examination of the extent to which procedural simplifications and a joint approach to the required service providers are possible and sensible.
