Prevention in School

Apply now: Summer Academy 2024 – Recognizing extremism, strengthening democracy.

Right-wing extremism continues to represent “the greatest extremist threat to our democratic community”, according to Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser. Teachers in particular have a key role to play in preventing extremism. The Deutsche Gesellschaft e. V. is therefore inviting teaching students to Berlin to take part in a four-day summer academy to address the question of how teachers at school can work preventively against extremism and how they can deal with extremist incidents.

The event pursues three learning objectives:

  • Imparting knowledge about dimensions and manifestation of extremism relevant to the protection of the constitution
  • Recognizing extremist statements and actions, their origins and contexts as well as their dangers in school context
  • Discussion of educational measures to prevent extremism and how to deal with extremist incidents

Participation, travel to and from the event and accommodation in Berlin are free of charge for participants. The results of the Summer Academy will subsequently be published in an online publication with input from the participants.
