Diversity Week

Working together to make diversity visible – with lectures, workshops, exchange formats and inspiration for everyone at the University of Mannheim.

Whether origin, gender, life circumstances or access to education: diversity shapes our everyday university life. With Diversity Week 2025, taking place from October 13 to 16, 2025, the Department for Equal Opportunities and Diversity invites you to share perspectives, break down barriers, and rethink equal opportunities in study and work.

The main evening event of Diversity Week will take place on Wednesday, October 15, in the Katakomben. Opened by the Vice-Rector for Digitalization, Equality, and Diversity,Prof. Dr. Heiko Paulheim, the program will address current challenges for democracy and equality: ranging from right-wing extremism in educational and online contexts to digital phenomena such as “tradwives” and harmful masculinity norms. A discussion format will follow, providing space for exchange. The event will begin with a special highlight: a singer from the University of Popular Music And Music Business will open the program with a musical performance.

And beyond that? There is something for everyone!

Choose from a wide range of formats and topics, including campus community, participation, accessibility, neurodivergence and AI-supported self-management, antisemitism prevention, networking, as well as cultural and musical contributions. All members of the University of Mannheim — students, academics, technical, and administrative staff — are warmly invited.
