Turning Point 9/11 and the Beginning of our Present

Prof. Dr. Philipp Gassert

The Mannheim historian Professor Philipp Gassert works through the causes, reactions and consequences of 9/11.

When the World Trade Center towers collapsed, the world was there live. The attacks of 11 September 2001 changed not only the United States, but many societies around the world, as war followed terror. The wars that originated from 9/11 left far greater devastation than the horrific attacks themselves. The overthrow of the Afghan Taliban, the search for Osama Bin Laden, and the invasion of Iraq made headlines and caused global political disruption for many years. But to this day, the “war on terrorism” continues.

The lecture is based on Professor Gasserts new book, “11 September 2001 – 100 Seiten” published by Reclam in early May. https://www.reclam.de/detail/978-3-15-020579-2/Gassert__Philipp/11__September_2001__100_Seiten
