The University of Mannheim offers a unique learning atmosphere, as most of the lecture halls are located in
Mannheim Palace, one of the most beautiful baroque palaces in Europe. About 3,000 employees and 12,000 students currently enjoy the privileges
of this extraordinary campus setting and its inspiring atmosphere, close to Mannheim's city center.
AccommodationAs an international student you can either apply for a room in one of the student residences off-campus or you can look for an apartment or a room on the private housing market. Our student residences are fully-furnished rooms and students usually share the kitchen and the bathroom with 2-5 roommates. If you choose to look for different accommodation, the International Office will be happy to provide you with information and tips on finding an apartment in Mannheim or the greater area.

Food and Refreshments
One main student restaurant and several smaller places are located on campus. The
main student restaurant (Mensa) offers daily changing lunch menu with
vegetarian and vegan alternatives. The selection also includes large
salat buffets, smaller snacks and a coffee bar. Many other small cafés and
bistros on different campus locations additionally offer the possibility to have a snack and a
coffee. Several private restaurants
in close reach of the University also serve various dishes for small prices.
SportsExercising is the perfect way to relax after studying. The University of Mannheim offers almost every kind of sports you can imagine.The best thing is that the facilities are located close to the main campus and most of the offers are completely free of charge.

Student OrganizationsSocial or cultural engagement outside the classroom plays an important role at the University of Mannheim. More than 30 student organizations offer opportunities to get involved in business and social projects, culture or the media. Mannheim PalaceWith a length of 400 meters and a total floor area of six hectares, Mannheim Palace is one of the largest baroque palaces in Europe. In 1720, Prince Elector Carl Philipp initiated the construction of a new palace. Since then, the main part of the palace has been rebuilt, including the stately Rittersaal (Knights’ Hall). Several guided tours help you get an impression of Mannheim Palace. Each September, the University of Mannheim hosts its annual "Schlossfest" and welcomes thousands of visitors at Mannheim Palace.

University MediaThe University uses all possible media channels to inform you about what is new and worth knowing on campus. Just follow us on Facebook or catch up on current news via the University of Mannheim App. Each semester, you can find news stories and interviews in our magazine FORUM. Additionally, there are several student magazines, a campus radio and also a TV channel that inform about student matters and where you can participate.

Campus ShopLocated in the main part of the castle, the Campus Shop is the place where you can buy shirts, hoodies, cups and many other things with the University's official logo. If you look for a souvenir from your stay at the University of Mannheim you will find it here. You can also get coffee, snacks or other refreshments at the Campus Shop.

Outside of CampusMannheim’s city center with
its variety of shops, cafés, clubs, theaters or international restaurants is close
to the University’s lecture halls. The rivers Neckar and Rhine are meeting points for sports activities and barbecues. For travelling in and outside Germany Mannheim is the perfect starting point as well as for smaller trips in the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region.
