International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia

Commemoration and actions for IDAHOBIT* 2022 in Mannheim and the Rhine-Neckar-region

On 17 May 1990, today’s International Day against Homo, Bi, Inter- and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), the World Health Organization (WHO) officially removed homosexuality from its diagnostic key for diseases (ICD-10). Today, people from all nations remember the decision and draw attention to the situation of LGBTQIA+ people.

Discrimination based on sexual or gender identity unfortunately still affects the daily lives of queer people. The University of Mannheim speaks out against discrimination in any form and in favour of social diversity. The counseling services of the University of Mannheim as well as regional contact points have an open ear for those affected. As part of the AStA, the student initiative Queer im Schloss offers important networking opportunities in a safe space through regular, joint actions and events for LGBTQIA+ students.
