Sustainability at the University of Mannheim

Transforming the economy and society sustainably is one of the pressing global challenges of our time. Climate change, human rights violations and scarcer resources are just some aspects of this problem. The University of Mannheim, which has a profile characterized by the economic and social sciences, sees it as its task to help overcome this challenge. Our research and teaching can make powerful contributions. In addition, we also rely on research findings in our own actions and thus strive to be a pioneer in implementing innovative measures.

Construction Has Begun for the New UNIT Building

On Friday, 14 March, there was a small ceremony for the new building of the University IT (UNIT) in A5, during which the foundation stone was laid. A sustainable three-story new building will be built by mid-2027.

Used, collected, recycled – Newly recycled paper towels

The University of Mannheim is launching a new recycling program for sustainable towel paper: “TorkPaperCircle” aims to save up to 40 percent of the CO2 produced by waste at the university in the future.
