Improve Your Teaching

Teaching well requires more than just good content. In order for students to understand and apply the material, teaching methods in lectures, seminars and exercise courses must also be well thought out. That’s why the University of Mannheim provides individual consultations, peer consultations, classroom observations and tutor training sessions for its teachers. By completing the Baden-Württemberg Certificate, you can also gain an internationally recognized qualification that is highly regarded in appointment procedures and recruitment processes.

Services for Teachers

The University of Mannheim provides many services for its teachers. You can, for example, arrange for your lectures to be recorded, set up course reserves for students, or ask the ILIAS Service team for help with the learning platform.  The professional software available in the editing room enables you to edit films and your own recordings. Or, you can use virtual machines to guarantee that your students are able to access programs needed for exercise courses or tutorials, even if they use different operating systems.

Alternative Lesson Formats

An online lecture, or a social project: lesson formats such as inverted classrooms, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), or service learning involve new methods that can make your teaching even more varied. They also help you to tailor your courses to your students.

Teaching Abroad

Different countries, different teaching methods. Through the ERASMUS+ program, you can gain experience at a European partner university, share your knowledge with international colleagues, and bring good ideas back to Mannheim with you.
