Dissertation Award for Dr. Benjamin G. Engst

Dr. Benjamin G. Engst, political scientist at the University of Mannheim, receives the Dissertation Award of the German Political Science Association (GPSA) for his doctoral thesis.

Benjamin Engst 's thesis was written as part of the MZES project “Das Bundesverfassungsgericht als Vetospieler” (The Federal Constitutional Court as a Veto Player) and has already been honored with the Lorenz von Stein Award. It will be published later this year by Palgrave Publishers under the title “The Two Faces of Judicial Power: Dynamics of Judicial-Political Bargaining”.

“Benjamin Engst 's doctoral dissertation is a must-read book for anyone who wants to better understand how constitutional courts exert their influence in political competition,” the jury's laudation said.

The German Political Science Association’s Dissertation Award is endowed with EUR 1,000 and is presented annually. The award was also given to Dr. Nabila Abbas (Université Paris Est Créteil).
