Dr. Katja Kalkschmied is an economist working in the fields of development economics and growth, institutional economics, political economy and international trade. She currently studies the allocation and effects of development finance with a focus on development finance provided by China to Africa. She is also engaged in the theoretical and empirical study of institution-building and institutional change. Katja is currently employed as postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of International Economics at the Faculty of Management and Economics, Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. Before, she earned her PhD in Economics at the University of Graz, Austria.
