University of Mannheim Receives More Funding from the German Research Foundation / Ranks Second with Its Funding Volume in Social Sciences

From 2017 until 2019, the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) has funded research projects at the University of Mannheim with 37.1 million euros. If the funding amount is compared to the number of professors and their subject profile, the University of Mannheim ranks second in Germany.

“We are very happy to see that, once again, the University of Mannheim has confirmed its top position in Economic and Social Science research”, says Prof. Henning Hillmann, Ph.D., Vice President for Research at the University of Mannheim. “The outcome emphasizes the scientific and societal relevance of the research results achieved at the University of Mannheim.”

The University of Mannheim’s success is based on its specialization. Its focus on Economic and Social Sciences and the wide range of expertise help the university to start groundbreaking research projects that are funded by third parties. The longitudinal study “Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Survey in Four European Countries (CILS4E)” that analyzes the integration of immigrants in four European countries is an example for such a research project. In the period mentioned, the German Research Foundation funds the project with 1.3 million euros.
