Senate of the University of Mannheim Elects New Vice President

In its meeting on 7 December 2022, the Senate of the University of Mannheim has elected Professor Dr. Moritz Fleischmann as new Vice President for Sustainability and Information Provision. The Senate elected the Professor from the university’s Business School in a clear vote.

Moritz Fleischmann, an expert on logistics and supply chains, will support the President's Office. Fleischmann will succeed Professor Dr. Laura Marie Edinger-Schons, who resigned because she moved to another university. “I am happy that Professor Fleischmann is willing to assume this office and to support us in the university’s management, in particular, when focusing on sustainability in the university’s research, teaching, and operations”, says President Professor Dr. Thomas Puhl. Fleischmann’s term of office will begin on 1 January 2023 and is scheduled to end on 30 September 2024.

Together with President Puhl, new Executive Vice President Dr. Katrin Schoppa-Bauer, Professor Dr. Annette Kehnel (Professor of History and Vice President for Student Affairs and Teaching), Professor Dr. Thomas Fetzer (Professor of Law and Vice President for Strategic Planning, Internationalization, and Equal Opportunity) and Professor Henning Hillmann, Ph.D. (Professor of Sociology and Vice President for Research and Early-Stage Researchers), Fleischmann will be part of the President’s Office as of 1 January 2023. “I am looking forward to working with the new team. At the same time, I want to thank the Vice Presidents for the work they have done so far, in particular, Professor Edinger-Schons for setting the course for a sustainable future at the University of Mannheim”, says President Puhl.
