U7+ Higher Education Alliance: Presidents from Universities Worldwide Discuss Global Issues Affecting Youth

From November 22 to 24, the second “U7+ Alliance of World Universities Presidential Summit“ takes place virtually. Interested members of the broader public are cordially invited to the Summit’s main plenary session on November 24 at 3:30 p.m. (CET), in which the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth will speak in a public livestream.

At this year’s U7+ Summit, more than two-dozen university presidents, among them Prof. Dr. Thomas Puhl, president of the University of Mannheim, discuss topics such as the U7+ Alliance’s engagement with the G7, ethical applications of artificial intelligence, and paths to sparking intergenerational dialogue on global issues. The participants of the summit will include the results of the first “U7+ Worldwide Student Forum“ to give new and renewed commitments to foster educational and economic opportunity for the next generation. At the “Student Forum“, students from all over the world set forth their recommendations for how universities can best prepare them for active engagement in efforts to address pressing global challenges including climate change, inequality and injustice in its many forms.

To the Summit’s main plenary session on November 24 at 3:30 p.m. (CET), all interested members of the broader public are invited. Jayathma Wickramanayake, the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, will speak in public livestream. Furthermore, the presidents of Northwestern, Columbia, Georgetown, the University of California, Berkeley, and Sciences Po will share their views on how universities should engage with the G7 and other multilateral organizations to tackle global challenges.
