Transcript of Records

General Information

The Transcript of Records (ToR) is an overview about all examinations and coursework. The document lists the coursework and examinations you have completed in your program (grades and ECTS) and shows the current average grade.

Depending on your higher education institution, the Transcript of Records also includes subject-specific semesters, the semester enrolled at a German higher education institution, your eligibility to take exams and the like.

We only accept official Transcripts of Records that have been issued by your higher education institution. We accept automatically created Transcripts of Records or Transcripts of Records bearing a verification link or digital signature. However, we cannot accept printouts from a student portal or screenshots.

You can apply for a master's program, even if you have not yet completed your bachelor’s program. However, you need to have successfully completed a certain amount of ECTS credits as stated in the selection statutes. If you apply for a master’s program, please make sure that your Transcript of Records includes your current average grade and the number of ECTS credits you have completed so far.

If you apply for admission to an advanced semester in a bachelor’s program, the average grade on your Transcript of Records is irrelevant.

The Transcript of Records must be available in either German or English. If the grades on your Transcript of Records differ from the German grading system, please also upload information about the corresponding grading system.

Applicants holding an international degree

To prove the number of ECTS you have earned, please upload a current Transcript of Records. If your higher education institution does not use ECTS, the credits or credit points shown on your official Transcript of Records will be converted to ECTS by the selection committee as part of the application process.

If the grades on your Transcript of Records differ from the German grading system, please also upload information about the corresponding grading system. In most cases, information on the grading system can be found at the reverse side of the Transcript of Records.

If your Transcript of Records has been issued in a language other than English or German, you need to submit a German or English translation of the transcript in addition to the document in the original language. Please note that all certificates and Transcripts of Records need to be translated by a sworn translator.
