Beatrice Rammstedt Receives the Alfred Binet Prize for Promoting Quality in Psychological Diagnostics

The Mannheim psychologist receives the prize of the German Psychological Society for her research in psychological diagnostics and for establishing diagnostic procedures for recording psychological traits.

Professor Dr. Beatrice Rammstedt, holder of the chair of Psychological Assessment, Survey Design and Methodology at the University of Mannheim and Vice-President of GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, has been awarded the Alfred Binet Prize 2023. The jury has awarded her the prize in particular because she has developed instruments for measuring psychological traits. Rammstedt has contributed significantly to the visibility and collection of these traits in disciplines other than personality psychology, the jury said. In psychological diagnostics, researchers analyze how human experience, behavior and their relevant conditions, can be described, classified and measured.

The “Alfred-Binet-Preis zur Förderung der Qualität in der Psychodiagnostik” is donated by the company Hogrefe and is endowed with 2,500 euros. The prize is awarded to individuals or research teams who have outstandingly contributed to promoting quality in psychological diagnostics.
