Arthur Seibold Is among the “Top 40 under 40” in Germany

The assistant professor of Economics made it to the “Top 40 under 40” list of the Capital business magazine.

With his research on old-age provision, the economist Arthur Seibold, Ph.D. significantly contributes to future political decisions: The behavioral model developed by Seibold shows that adjusting the statutory pension age in pension reforms is an effective measure to influence individual retirement decisions. The societal relevance of his research findings secured him a place in the “Society” category of this year’s “Top 40 under 40” list, published by Capital.

The distinction highlights Seibold’s outstanding research: This year, the Verein für Socialpolitik (VfS) already awarded him the Schmölders Prize for his research on the factors that influence individual retirement decisions. He has also received an award for his doctoral dissertation on old-age provision: In 2019, he received the research award of the research network on old-age provision of Deutsche Rentenversicherung, the German pension insurance. In addition, his research has been funded by Daimler and Benz Foundation for the last three years.

Before Seibold accepted the assistant professorship at the University of Mannheim in 2018, he earned his PhD at London School of Economics (LSE) and completed a research stay at the University of California, Berkeley. Before that, he studies Economics at LSE and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. In his research, he primarily focuses on pension policies and social security.
