The city-wide reading campaign “Mannheim liest ein Buch” (“Mannheim reads a book”) has already been a success twice – and will be continued this fall. This year, the novel Drei Kameradinnen by Shida Bazyar will take center stage.
Drei Kameradinnen (“Three female comrades”), nominated for the 2021 German Book Prize, is about the extraordinary bond between three young women. It tells of their lives and what it means to be questioned everywhere and at all times.
As in the past two years, the opening event will take place in the university auditorium. On November 4, Bazyar, Beck and Wortmann invite you to a free reading followed by a discussion. After that, various events are planned in the city for around four weeks that will focus on the novel.
Further information and the program for this year's campaign can be found at www.mannheimliesteinbuch.de (in German).
