New Publication Guidelines Adopted

In June 2023, the President’s Office of the University of Mannheim has adopted Publication Guidelines. The aim of the President's Office is to strengthen the university’s position in international and national research communities, and to increase the visibility of its performance. The Publication Guidelines are of great importance since higher education institutions are evaluated based on the publications of its researchers in national and international comparisons and rankings. The visibility and usability of the publications require that they can be easily found. The new guidelines of the university are addressed to its researchers, visiting scholars, early-stage researchers, and non-academic staff members.

The new guidelines specify the standard writing of the university name in all publications. They provide clear rules for correctly naming affiliations such as schools or institutes and for dealing with double or multiple affiliations. In the international research community, there is an increasing number of researchers with multiple affiliations. In addition, the University of Mannheim recommends that researchers pay attention to the consistent spelling of their name and to use the ORCID iD (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) as standardized author identification number.
