Prof. Dr. Eva Martha Eckkrammer Elected as New Vice President of the Franco-German University (FGU)

Prof. Eckkrammer was elected at the assembly meeting of the institutions that are part of the FGU network. She will take up the position on 1 January 2022.

Eckkrammeris holder of the chair of Romance Languages Linguistics and Media Studies at the University of Mannheim. Since 2017, she has been representing the member universities in the FGU university council. Thus, she is familiar with the structures at FGU. She will take over from the current Vice President Prof. Dr. Philippe Gréciano, who will succeed the current President, Prof. Dr. Olivier Mentz, as scheduled.

In the past, Eckkrammerhas already held various positions in the academic and scientific field: She was President of the German association for Romance Studies (Deutscher Romanistenverband), founding member and academic director of the Institut Français for economic and intercultural affairs, Vice President at the University of Mannheim as well as chair of the university council of the University of Applied Sciences Mannheim.

During her term of office, Eckkrammer plans to strengthen and further develop the binational core of DFH. At the same time, she wants to continue to open DFH to a European dimension.

The Franco-German University (Deutsch-Französische Hochschule, DFH) is a binational institution that was founded in 1997 by the governments of Germany and France. Its main tasks are to initiate, evaluate and fund Franco-German double degree programs as well as the binational education of doctoral students and the mobility of young researchers between Germany and France. More than 200 universities, universities of applies sciences and Grandes Écoles in approx. 130 cities in Germany and France are part of the network.
