Stefan Fraunholz in the final for the Helmut Schaefer Award

Stefan Fraunholz, who wrote his master thesis at MISES under the supervision of Nikolas Wölfing, is in the final of the Helmut Schaefer Award of the Forschungsstelle für Energiewirtschaft (FfE).

Since 2019, the FfE has awarded the Helmut-Schaefer-Prize once a year. This prize is awarded to master’s theses that make an exceptionally high contribution to an innovative and sustainable energy system. The Helmut-Schaefer-Prize recognizes innovative approaches to solutions, scientific depth, and benefits for the practice.

In his thesis “Bidding behavior and cost of firms in the German market for balancing energy”, Stefan Fraunholz presents an estimation of cost bounds for the provision of balancing energy in the German electric power market.

His thesis was selected as one of the top three among all submissions. The final selection will take place on September 23, 2022 in Munich.
