Mourning the Loss of Dr. Hans-Joachim Treutler

The University of Mannheim mourns the loss of Dr. Hans-Joachim Treutler who passed on 24 July 2022 at the age of 94. Treutler established two foundations at the University of Mannheim and financed the renovation of a seminar room in the Ehrenhof West of the Schloss that was then named after him. We will honor his memory.

Dr. Hans-Joachim Treutler was the founder of the Mannheim-based company Promarketing GmbH. The entrepreneur supported the University of Mannheim for many years. Back in 1985, he founded the Stiftung Marketing that deals with the promotion of research and teaching in business administration, particularly in the field of marketing. In the nineties, he established the Stiftung Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaften. This foundation supports graduates as well as early-stage researchers with outstanding final theses in the field of media and communication studies.

In addition, Dr. Hans-Joachim Treutler was a personal member of the Sponsors' Association for Science and Practice at the Centre for European Economic Research and of the Freunde der Universität Mannheim. As part of the Renaissance of the Baroque Palace fundraising initiative, he financed the renovation of a seminar room in the Ehrenhof West of the Schloss that was then named after him. The University of Mannheim awarded him the University Medal for his merits.
