Council of Academic Staff Members

The Council of Academic Staff Members represents the interests of the academic staff members of the University of Mannheim (inter alia, doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, Akademische Rätinnen and Räte and lecturers) at the university level. The Council of Academic Staff members has a speaker and a deputy speaker. Other members are representing the academic staff members in the university’s bodies. Therefore, the Council also serves as an information exchange platform between the bodies and schools of the university. The speaker and deputy speaker are the central point of contact for all academic staff members.

The Council meets once or twice per semester. Academic staff member interested in the work of the Council may join the meetings.

We will inform you regularly about current topics which have been discussed in previous meetings. On this website, you will find updated information on support for the academic staff members (Mittelbau) during the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, the Council of Academic Staff Members has a mailing lists to inform subscribers about information relevant to academic staff members and invite them to its meetings. In urgent matters, the mailing list is also used to get an overview about the opinions within the Council. Here you can register for the mailing list of the Council of Academic Staff Members.

The speaker, the deputy speaker as well as all elected and appointed representatives of the academic staff members (Mittelbau) are ex officio members of the Council of Academic Staff Members who are eligible to vote. In addition, all academic staff members interested may join and participate in the meetings of the Council of Academic Staff Members.
