International Day against Violence towards Women* 2022

The University of Mannheim speaks out against any exercise of violence and refers to all people. Women*, LGBTTIQ*, children, people with disabilities or migration background – are particularly vulnerable groups and more often victims of various forms of violence.

Many people are currently showing solidarity with people in the Middle East and around the world in order to draw attention to their right to self-determination over their own lives and bodies.
The Rectorate of the University of Mannheim shares the view of the German Rectors' Conference of 5 October 2022 and stands in solidarity with the members of Iranian universities in their commitment to women's and human rights.

However, violence does not stop at the university context, as a diversity-sensitive UniSAFE survey at some universities recently showed with its figures.

In Mannheim, all members of the university have access to the counseling services offered by the university contact persons in cases of sexual harassment, psychological or physical violence against people of all genders and sexual orientations with confidential counseling. Across campus, “No to Harassment” notices in the restrooms provide an overview of university contact points. The University of Mannheim regulates a respectful and appreciative interaction via the Code of Conduct of the University of Mannheim. If you have any concerns about anti-discrimination or noncompliance with the Code of Conduct, please do not hesitate to contact the appropriate contact points.

On the occasion of 25 November, every year until 10 December, International Human Rights Day, various events are held around the world to draw attention to different forms of violence and discrimination. An overview of events in the region:
