summer school “Africa on the move”

Universität Mannheim

Two doctoral students from linguistics and business administration and are organizing an transdisciplinary summer school on the topic “Africa on the move: diaspora, mobility, migration, languages, culture and economy”.

The focus is on the analysis of research approaches and synergies associated with the African diaspora in different scientific disciplines. In addition, the knowledge and insights gained in university areas will be compared with the circulating discourses of society in order to gain a holistic picture of African migration. The aim is to show how BIPOC people from society get involved politically and educationally in order to create a future that takes their perspective(s) into account.

In the morning we plan a linguistic block seminar, accompanied by interdisciplinary lectures in the afternoon in the fields of politics, economics and linguistics as well as from society, journalism, education, culture and art. As a special event, we also offer an interactive dance workshop on Thursday. Here you can find our website with further information.

The Summer School takes place in person at the University of Mannheim.
Alternatively, virtual participation is possible; the lectures will be streamed online in parallel. Participants will have the opportunity to network with stakeholders in society and science. Participation is free of charge and can be attended by anyone who is interested, including those from outside the university.

If you are interested, please save the date. Registration is expected to be possible in the coming weeks.
