CDSE Alumna Laura Montenbruck awarded prestigious Research Grant from Handelsbankens Forskningsstiftelser

We extend our warmest congratulations to CDSE alumna, Dr. Laura Montenbruck, on receiving a prestigious SEK 1 million research grant from Handelsbankens forskningsstiftelser in this year’s highly competitive funding round. She is one of seven researchers at Stockholm University’s Department of Economics recognized for their outstanding work.
Dr. Montenbruck, who earned her doctoral degree in Economics from the University of Mannheim in 2024 and has since joined Stockholm University as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, will lead a project examining gender equity in public transportation in Delhi. Working alongside her co-researchers, her work focuses on the effects of the city’s pink ticket scheme, a policy designed to provide women with free access to public buses.
Her research brings an economist’s perspective to a critical issue at the intersection of urban policy, mobility, and gender equity, generating valuable insights into how well-intentioned interventions can produce unintended behavioral responses.
We are proud to see Laura’s impactful research recognized and wish her and her collaborators every success with their project.
