The Interplay of Children’s and Parents’ Networks in Shaping Each Other’s Social Worlds

European societies are becoming increasingly diverse, for instance in ethnic and religious terms. Though many people are likely to maintain and establish friendships from childhood through to adulthood with „their own kind”. How will such social dividing lines develop in the future? Are children's social contacts similar to those of their parents – even if today's young people are growing up in increasingly diverse societies? Or does the increasing diversity in children's everyday lives possibly have an impact on their parents' contacts?

CDSS Alumnus Dr. Lars Leszczensky, Sociologist at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research has been researching social integration and inter group relations for more than ten years. The European Research Council has now awarded him an ERC Starting Grant.

Many congratulations!
