1.) Presentation (50 % of final grade)

• Setting: Group presentation (~3 students per group), with individual grading

Case Study: Planning a New Passenger Airline for Tourism to St. Vincent and the Grenadines
This interactive case study invites you to step into the role of various airline management functions and design a passenger airline aimed at boosting tourism to the Caribbean islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. You will explore the full spectrum of airline planning—from market analysis and fleet selection, crew planning to business strategy, sustainability, and financial planning—while balancing creativity with real-world feasibility.
Only 20 students will be selected to participate, divided into four groups of five. Within each group, every student will represent one or more airline functions, contributing their unique perspective to the team’s solution.
The seminar is organized in three two-day blocks (Friday/Saturday):

• Block 1: Introduction to the topic and overview of airline functions, followed by self-organized group formation and the start of case work. Students will be able to submit follow-up questions by email after this session, which then will be discussed in the second block.
• Block 2: Recap of key concepts, discussion of submitted questions, and continued group work with the lecturer available for guidance.
• Block 3: Final group presentations and a plenary discussion of findings.

How to apply:
Submit a short motivation letter (to bjoern.hennig@avialytics.aero) explaining why you are interested in the topic and how you believe you can contribute to your group’s work. If applications exceed the available slots, selection will be based on the motivation letters.
This case study is a great opportunity to develop problem-solving skills, collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, and gain hands-on experience in tackling a complex, real-world aviation challenge.
