CDSS Alumnus Nader Hotait nominted for prestigous German Thesis Award

Dr. Nader Hotait is one of 30 doctoral graduates nominated for the Körber Foundation’s academic award. In 2025, he completed his dissertation on “Radicalization, Platform Dynamics, and Muslim Counter-Public Spheres” at the Center for Doctoral Studies in Social and Behavioral Sciences (CDSS) at the University of Mannheim. He is continuing his academic career at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM), which was co-founded by the University of Mannheim.

The Research Award is presented annually to the best German doctoral graduates across all disciplines. In addition to academic excellence, the specific societal significance of the research contributions is of paramount importance. For the final round of the competition, all 30 nominees will present their research to the jury at the end of June. In each of the three categories—social sciences, natural and technical sciences, and humanities and cultural studies—one top prize of 25,000 euros and two second prizes of 5,000 euros will be awarded. The patron of the prize is Bundestag President Julia Klöckner.

Congratulations on your nomination—we're all keeping our fingers crossed for you!
