Research Funding Requirements for Open Science and Research Data Management
Both Research Data Management and Open Science practices are increasingly required to secure research funding and academic positions. Therefore, understanding and applying, as well as effectively communicating these practices are now fundamental to a successful academic career.
Various funders, including the EU Horizon, ERC and DFG, have different levels of required and recommended practices. These practices are not merely formalities. Many funders consider them integral parts of a proposal. This reflects the critical role of open science and research data management in ensuring the transparency, reproducibility, and long-term preservation of research outputs, including data, code, methods, and publications.
In this talk, we will describe the requirements and recommendations of research funders and offer suggestions on what to include in your funding application. We will also explain how the Research Data Centre and Open Science Office at the University Library can support you in implementing Research Data Management and Open Science practices.
