Presentations at the ISA Annual Convention 2021

Anna-Lena Hönig, Cosima Meyer, Felix Olsowski, and Christoph Steinert participated at the International Studies Association 2021 Annual Convention held from April 6th – 9th, 2021. Though unfortunately not in Las Vegas, Nevada, as originally planned, they took the opportunity of the virtual convention to present their current projects to an international audience:

Anna-Lena Hönig presented her paper “The Democratic Decline in the EU and its Effect on Contributions to Democracy Promotion in Central Asia” together with Shirin Tumenbaeva (American University of Central Asia).

Cosima Meyer provided insights in two of her projects named “Power in the Post-Conflict Period: The Effect of Armed Conflict and Gender Quotas on Women in Political Leadership Positions” (with Britt Bolin, University of Mannheim) and “Out of Office, Out of Order? The Effect of Leadership Turnover on the Recurrence of Violence”.

Felix Olsowski presented results from his paper “The Dark Side of Judicial Independence: Extrajudicial Killings as Alternative to Compliant Judges?”.

Christoph Steinert together with Christoph Dworschak (University of Trondheim) showed interesting findings from their paper “Political Imprisonment and Mass Protests: Evidence From the Former GDR”.
