Juniorprofessor on Process Analytics starting in April

We are very happy to announce that Dr. Han van der Aa will be assigned as Juniorprofessor at the School of Business Informatics and Mathematics in April. Dr. van der Aa reseach focus is data-driven process analytics and he will join the DWS group as 8th professor. Welcome!

Research focus: Han van der Aa conducts research in the area of data-driven process analytics, targeting the intersection between business processes and information system. His research particularly focuses on the development of automated techniques for process analysis, which are tailored artificial intelligence techniques that employ machine learning and natural language processing for purposes such as conformance checking and data integration.

Background: He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Computer Science of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where he is a recipient of an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship. Previously, he obtained a PhD from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2018, and MSc (2013) and BSc (2010) degrees from the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Teaching: At the University of Mannheim, Han shall be teaching courses in the areas of business process management and process mining.

Hiring: Han is looking for motivated PhD candidates or postdoctoral researchers to fill two full-time positions (E13 100%) available in artificial intelligence for data-driven process analysis. Topics may include process mining, handling data uncertainty, semantic process analysis, and robotic process automation.
